Can Cats Eat Spice Orchid?

It is not advisable for cats to eat spice orchids. Cats may not experience any effects after eating a small amount of this orchid but if they had a lot of spice orchids, they can suffer from indigestion and other gastrointestinal issues.

You should keep in mind that cats are carnivorous species. Carnivorous animals are not capable of digesting plants in their stomachs. Thus, when they eat excessive plant materials, they end up having an upset stomach. They may also experience vomiting and diarrhea but these symptoms will eventually subside.

Certain commercial fertilizers and pesticides may contain poisonous chemicals that can be bad for our feline companions. If you have houseplants, make sure to only use natural plant care products and practice safety precautions while using them.

Keeping Cats Away From Spice Orchid

Lay chicken wire beneath mulch or incorporate it into the top layer of soil to create an unpleasant walking surface. You can also use stones or pebbles as ground cover as it also creates rough surfaces.

You may also fill the gaps around your plant bedding with pine cones or branches to create a bristly barrier for cats without ruining the natural appearance of the garden or causing them pain.

Cats are extremely sensitive to smell, so powerful scents like lavender, peppermint, or cinnamon work well to keep them at bay. Select one of these scents, combine it with water, and spritz it throughout the garden.

Cats dislike citrus scents as well. Another easy and natural deterring method is to chop citrus peels and place them around your garden. If are worried about attracting insects, you can also make your own deterrent spray by squishing the fruits and mixing them with water.
